FELYPE DE LIMA
Artistic Direction
Stage designer, figurine and theatrical illuminator. Multidisciplinary designer linked to both theatrical design and the use of the languages it offers for the creation and coordination of artistic projects at any level and degree of experimentation. He was born on August 27, 1984 in Maringá, Brazil. From an early age he developed a special predilection for performing arts, and at an early age he moved to Spain where he will study and acquire a complete artistic background. In 2003 he began his studies in Scenic Machinery and Scenography Construction by the Center for Scenic Studies of Andalusia (ESCENICA, Granada). In 2004 he entered the Royal Superior School of Dramatic Arts in Madrid (RESAD), where he studied the specialty of Scenography, obtaining, in 2008, the Degree in Dramatic Arts. In this academic period, he combines his studies with the first professional works, always starting from the scenographic design, expands his field of study and learning in other scenic languages, such as costumes and lighting.
Throughout these years he has collaborated with different directors, choreographers, musicians and curators of exhibitions including Tomaž Pandur, Ara Malikian, Chevi Muraday, Ernesto Caballero, Esteve Ferrer, Carles Alfaro, Gabriel Olivares, Giorgio Ursini, Delphine Pinasa, Natalia Moreno , Mariano de Paco, Marco Flores and Manuel Liñan.
His projects include Fausto, directed by Tomaž Pandur and production of the National Dramatic Center (Valle-Inclán Theater), for which he is awarded the 2015 Max Award for Best Costume Design, along with this director he performs the costume design for the King Lear (Greece) and Faust (Slovenia) shows.
In 2017 he made a total of 11 projects, of which the following stand out: The Addams family, Medias Puri, El Hortera, Ara Malikian, Gross Indeceny, Life is a dream, Dark loves.
He is currently the director of the Master of set design and Master of costume of the TAI School, where he teaches the subjects of Set Design, Costume Design and Project.
After ten years devoted to Scenic Design and Costume Design, Felype de Lima is committed to creating its laboratory-studio in Madrid, a new creative space to expand its artistic horizons. In Lima, recognized for its constant commitment to open new avenues of research in the creation and theatrical design, it advances again and inaugurates its own study to investigate, create and develop with national and international projects in capital letters; surrounded by a team of creators and professionals of first level, coming from different artistic fields.
The creative process of this designer is unique, it has its own internal pulse that motivates you to create, research and reinvent. For him, each project is flooded with universal concepts that are not governed by any norm, are not static, definitive or absolute, but are in a state of development, of changes and continuous progress. In his opinion, classical concepts can be redefined, it is easy for your mind to formulate new concepts that are fueled by new paradigms within a new cultural context. A design devoid of content can influence the banalization of society, accustomed to staying only with appearances, without worrying about the content of the messages. His projects are based on the transmutation of ideas with the objective of communicating from another point of view, creating and providing viewers with a multisensory experience, which immerses them in a state of ecstasy, an interdisciplinary synthesis of deep research.
In this way, the creative and innovative work is always a mirror of this scenic designer, he talks about his abilities, his way of thinking, his style, constituting an important duty, since he never separates from his work.
